If you have teeth that are stained, badly shaped or crooked, we can help you improve your smile by placing a veneer on top of the teeth to cover the problem.

Veneers are thin “shells,” made of tooth-coloured material, crafted in a dental laboratory to micro fit over the front side of your teeth. We will evaluate your smile and model your bite before sending this impression or scan to the laboratory.

You may wish to consider porcelain veneers. Veneers are thin restorations that fit over the front surfaces of teeth for improved aesthetics. Veneers can correct the appearance of gaps, damage and minor misalignment. The number of veneers required depends on your desired outcome and the shape of your smile. This fantastic procedure can revolutionise your smile. Veneers are able to change the colour, length and shape of your teeth and make minor adjustments to their positions.

Veneers come in two forms:
Composite Bonding
Indirect Porcelain Veneers

Composite Bonding is a Cosmetic Dentistry technique which can work wonders on your smile.

Using materials that match the shade, translucency and texture of your teeth, Composite Bonding may be performed in a single visit. Composite Bonding tends to be less time-consuming and expensive than other tooth restoration treatments. This technique is used when only a fraction of a tooth needs replacement.

The process of Composite Bonding enables a number of dental problems to be repaired and resolved. Composite Bonding may be used to:

Conceal Chips Close Gaps Cover Spots Conceal Staining & Discolouration Repair a broken front tooth

The first step in undertaking a Composite Bonding procedure is to treat the natural tooth surface with an enamel conditioner. This results in a roughened enamel surface, allowing the bonding substance to adhere.

Those placed directly at the time of your appointment and are made of tooth-coloured plastic like material. These are called Direct Composite Veneers. Those placed in a two appointment process where the veneers are shaped and formed out of your mouth and then cemented at a subsequent appointment 10 days later. These are called Indirect Porcelain or Composite resin Veneers Direct resin Veneers

In general direct resin, veneers are used when there are small changes that need to be made to the shape or colour of the teeth. Briefly, their advantages are that they are immediate, safe, and economical. Their disadvantages are that they do require replacement at varying intervals and regular maintenance to keep them looking fresh and beautiful, although for those concerned about the cost of porcelain veneers they do represent outstanding value for money.

These are the preferred method of any significant veneering of your teeth due to the extremely natural appearance longevity & low maintenance. Porcelain veneers are thin tooth-coloured layers of porcelain that precisely fit over the front surface of your teeth. They are an effective treatment option to dramatically change the shape, colour and size of your teeth and the appearance of your smile. Veneers can be used to treat chipped, gapped, stained, misshaped, misaligned, cracked or generally unsatisfying teeth.

The teeth are prepared through the removal of a thin (0.33mm—1mm) layer of the surface of the tooth to create room for the veneers. Your veneers are expertly designed user experience, innovation and accuracy to suit your individual requirements. This may also involve our ceramist who creates the dental veneer, in Sydney, at a specialist laboratory. While your veneers are being made you will be wearing temporary veneers which will replicate your new smile. Your beautiful new porcelain veneers will be cemented after 10 days and you will walk out with a brand new smile.

The advantages of porcelain veneers are that they mimic the appearance of the enamel; they are readily polished able and result in an excellent gum response. The only disadvantage is that they take a few weeks to make. At a diagnostic appointment, we discuss in detail the changes that will be made and often we carry out a mock-up on your teeth so you can visualise the changes that are to be made and how that will work to improve your smile.

Due to the tooth preparation required, the treatment is irreversible. It is, therefore, important that our patients participate in the “smile design process”. This is where preferences for shape, length, width and colour of the veneers are chosen and determining how the changes in smile appearance to occur will meet expectations. We do this by incorporating study models and digital photography into our consultations.

There are several steps in this procedure:

A local anesthetic is administered, allowing for comfort during tooth preparation and veneer placement. The natural tooth is prepared by minimally reshaping it using small dental burs for precision. If the treatment involves direct composite materials, the appropriately shaded material is added to the teeth. The preparation is then shaped; the dental material applied and hardened using a high-intensity light. We complete the procedure by finishing and polishing the new veneer(s) using burs and polishers, to create a vital and lifelike smile. Temporary Veneers

The procedure for porcelain veneers requires an impression of the teeth, where a mould of the mouth is made. The mould is then sent to Aceram, our neighbouring dental lab, where they are professionally fabricated. Each veneer is a custom restoration designed to look attractive but also natural, without looking bulky or fake.

In the meantime, temporary veneers are placed, which preview the expected look, feeling and fit of the final product. They also allow us to identify any adjustments that may be needed during fabrication, such as bite adjustments or changes in the final colour.

During the veneer placement appointment, the temporaries are removed and the final veneers are placed with an evaluation and adjustment to ensure optimal fit and colour.

Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-coloured materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their colour, shape, size, or length

Dental veneers are thin films that adhere directly to the front of the tooth to improve its appearance. Veneers are an excellent solution for a number of minor aesthetic issues.

The purpose of veneers is to give you a beautiful smile by restoring teeth that are worn, stained, chipped, broken or slightly misaligned, or even to fill a gap between two teeth.

There are two main types of veneers: composite and porcelain.

Composite veneers
Composite veneers are manufactured right on the premises by the dentist and applied directly to the teeth. A single appointment is all that’s needed for this procedure, which will bring back your dazzling smile and hide any imperfections.

Porcelain veneers
Porcelain veneers serve the same purpose as composite veneers. However, they are made in a laboratory. Porcelain veneers are a little like false nails in that they are made to measure and cemented onto the tooth surface. The full procedure requires two appointments: one to prepare the tooth and take the impression that will serve to make the veneer in the lab; and a second to cement the veneer onto the tooth.

Which type is right for you?
Both veneer types offer the following benefits:
– A more attractive smile while preserving healthy teeth.
– A more uniform smile in terms of tooth colour and shape

Benefits of composite veneers:
– Several veneers can be applied in a single visit.
– Less expensive than porcelain.
– Easy to repair if needed.

Benefits of porcelain veneers:
– Preserve the bright, slightly translucent appearance of natural teeth.
– Longer-lasting than composite.
– Do not change colour over time.
