At Top smile Clinic Mascot, we pride ourselves on being an amalgam free practice. Whilst the traditional (silver) fillings can last a long time, they are not aesthetic and have a higher risk to weaken and crack what is left of the tooth over time. We utilise the newest available composite resin (white fillings) to restore a beautiful white smile.

White fillings can also be used to restore chipped, decayed, worn, broken, cracked teeth or to fill in gaps in-between teeth. if a filling is required, the site will be assessed, any decay will be removed, cleaned and sterilised in preparation for the application of fillings. The filling is then expertly crafted, shaped and polished to accurately restore your tooth to its former shape and function.

Commonly asked questions

White fillings, also known as composite or tooth coloured restorations, are an effective way to restore teeth while maintaining a natural appearance. White filings are created from a strong dental bond which is formulated to have great strength and durability. They also carry a significantly lower risk of fracturing the tooth than previously used amalgam fillings. Tooth coloured fillings can be directly applied in one appointment.

Unlike amalgam fillings, composite dental fillings allow patients to eat right after getting the procedure. However, we do recommend that patients only resume eating after the local anaesthetic wears off, as It can be quite difficult to eat when your lips and mouth are numb. Plus, you don’t want to risk of accidentally biting your lip, cheek, or tongue.

While composite fillings are very strong, you should probably opt out of chewing anything too crunchy, hard or sticky right after getting the procedure.

White colored (composite) fillings do not only restore the decayed or damaged tooth but also serve as an excellent option for changing your tooth shape, size and colour cosmetically. Moreover, white teeth fillings help you close the unsightly gaps between your teeth-particularly to repair a chipped tooth and blending in with the rest of your teeth leaving a natural smile.
